Resolve dependencies before mobilization
Combine objectives, plots, aviation requirements, site permissions, welfare criteria, weather decisions, contacts and recovery arrangements in one brief. Where one person holds several roles, test whether those tasks can actually be performed concurrently. Make maps and procedures available offline. Resolving dependencies can save more time than adding a faster aircraft.
Track each battery through its rotation
Record battery identity, sortie, charge state and abnormalities, separating used, cooling, charging and ready packs. Follow the relevant manufacturer instructions. Size the rotation around charging, cooling, travel and available power as well as flight duration. Additional batteries cannot fix a bottleneck in chargers, electrical supply or staffing.
Observation is not a spray operation
Routine observational ecology does not require agricultural-style liquid replenishment. Turnaround usually concerns batteries, sensors and storage. If sampling is included, create separate procedures for contamination control, container identity, blanks and preservation. Chemical application is an intervention with different objectives and requirements, not a default wildlife observation step.
Close each sortie with a quality check
Check coverage, blur, timestamps, positioning and file integrity after each sortie. Verify an independent copy before clearing original media and record its location. Reacquisition decisions must respect welfare restrictions and the weather window. Finding missing evidence after demobilization can cost far more than a short field quality check.
Define a complete turnaround release
The Airffic operations proposal releases a new sortie only after aircraft inspection, payload security, storage capacity, sensor time, previous-sortie quality and welfare revisit conditions are checked. Measure which resource creates the queue: aircraft, charging or review staff. That identifies where additional capacity could help. If a separately authorized intervention uses liquids, container identity, leaks and cross-contamination checks belong in a dedicated procedure.
